Long time rumor became fact as Elyria mayor J Grant Keys was named Director of Highway Safety in Governor elect Michael V DiSalles cabinet. Everett S Preston named State Highway Director and Robert H Terhune named Director of Agriculture. Keys will begin at 10000 a year after inauguration and commute from Elyria. Victor Stewart council president will become mayor to fill Keys unexpired term. Stewart has served on City Council since 1953 and is seen as a strong candidate for next election. A Pan-American Highway bus carrying Christmas shoppers overturned 40 miles southeast of Oaxaca, killing 72 and injuring two. All victims believed Mexican. The driver swerved to avoid two pedestrians, sending the bus over a six-foot bank. Only the conductor and a 15-year-old girl survived with serious injuries.

Fire Fatal To Widow At Lorain
An 80 year old Lorain widow died in a morning house fire at 226 Georgia Ave causing about 10000 dollars in damage. Mrs Lottie Bailey was pronounced dead on arrival at St Joseph Hospital at 7 20 am. Coroner ruled burns or possible carbon monoxide poisoning. Firemen found her body by a gas stove in the first floor kitchen. Fire spread through the dwelling to the attic. Neighbors offered competing theories on how the clothing caught fire. Mrs Bailey had lived in Lorain 60 years and was a member of the Delaware Avenue Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters in Lansing and Livingston. Funeral arrangements were set.

Trains buses and operating airlines scheduled extra runs today for holiday traffic. About 1,500 pilots walked out against American at midnight Friday. Eastern Airlines has been grounded since Nov 24 by strikes of flight engineers and machinists. A United Press International check showed travelers seeking alternate accommodations and the initial weekend traffic snarls easing. An American spokesperson in Chicago called carrier cooperation remarkable as passengers were reassigned and about 90 percent of American bookings found seats or alternate flights through Saturday night.
