Velvet Dressmaking Tips from Norma Deyo
Norma Deyo extension clothing specialist of The Ohio State University offers velvet sewing guidance for New Year outfits. She notes velvet’s seam slippage and surface maring as key issues and advises simple designs, single-layer cutting, careful stitching, test seams, silk thread for baste, avoid topstitching, and steaming on a needleboard to protect the nap.
