Allies gain control of key route in Cambodia

UPI reports South Vietnamese and Cambodian troops linked up at the Chup rubber plantation to secure Highway 7 from the Vietnamese border to Phnom Penh for the first time in a year. The operation’s heaviest fighting occurred in the plantation, with daylight travel deemed safe while night threats persist from Viet Cong mines.

U S asks Cuba to free captain of captured ship

The United States urged Cuba to release Jose Villa, captain of the freighter Johnny Express, after a Cuban gunboat captured the ship. GM to lay off 600 at three plants

Ead and Margaret Hollen of Bear Branch Kentucky reportedly hold the longest marriage on record. Married May 7 1889 they are 82 years seven months ten days together with a 67 year old son Carla Beth and a large extended family including 38 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren.

Wrong body cremated triggers Sydney funeral mixup

Mourners were called back for a second funeral after the wrong body was cremated. The error occurred because two deceased women shared the same surname. The first cremation ashes were given to her family.
