An early low of two above was logged in Columbus as Dayton Cincinnati and Cleveland reported near zero readings, with warmer temperatures expected by Saturday as southwest winds lift highs to 25 to 35.

The Public Utilities Commission Thursday approved the merger of Natural Gas Company of West Virginia into Ohio Fuel Gas Co effective Jan 1. Natural Gas will move headquarters from Pittsburgh to Columbus and serves about 34,000 customers in nine eastern Ohio counties. Ohio Fuel Gas serves about 530,000 customers in 39 Ohio counties. Approval also covers sale of more than 122,000 in northern Natural Gas funds in Belmont and Columbiana counties to Manufacturers Light & Heat Co. All three firms are subsidiaries of the Columbia Gas System Inc.
Mrs. Dorothy Caruso widow of Enrico Caruso dies of cancer at Union Memorial Hospital Baltimore aged 62. She married Caruso in 1918 and wed Capt. E A Ingram in London in 1922 after Caruso's death. they later divorced.
