Elyria city officials sign a 20 year water contract with county commissioners to sell water to Ridgeville. The project, cost around 500000 dollars, includes an elevated storage tank and master meter. Bond refinancing may be pursued if needed.

Series of sharp earthquakes hammered Imperial Valley Friday night into Saturday morning causing extensive damage in Brawley. The 17 shocks broke plate glass and damaged stores while downtown windows were shattered and public safety officials roped off areas. Quakes were felt across the Imperial Valley with minor damage elsewhere. Dr Charles Richter of Caltech explained the region sits on San Andreas fault system.
The Ohio State Health Department said polio vaccine supplies for both commercial and federal programs are falling far behind schedule. Officials cited production delays and warned Ohio may not complete distribution by May. The state’s police advisory committee reported 80 percent of vaccine released by manufacturers has reached Ohio so far.
Pittsburgh report says national steel production rose to surpass the November monthly high and push the 1955 year total beyond 171 million tons by year end. Through November the 11 month total tops 16 million tons higher than last year as output increases at mills.
