Lorain County Auditor urges license purchase for all dogs three months old or older. Licenses cost 3 dollars at the auditor's office until January 20 and 5 dollars afterward. Revenue funds the dog warden system, aids livestock owners, and assists in tracing lost pets when found at the county pound.
Lorain County Joint Vocational School Board approves $975 payments to four representatives for off hours negotiations and contract work. Barbara Nelson gains a $2,000 salary increase to $16,025 annually. John Tomazic granted medical leave. Alan Pachinger hired as plumbing instructor and Edward Cieslak hired as carpentry instructor for the rest of the year at pro rated salaries.
Convicted murderer Stan Ley Hoss 35 who once fled through Ohio in 1969 and boasted why not to a court, was found dead by hanging in his Graterford State Prison cell last week. He had been convicted of killing a prison guard and a suburban Pittsburgh policeman and confessed to slayings of a Maryland woman and her daughter. He previously escaped a Pennsylvania prison while awaiting sentencing on a rape charge, stopping at a Wellington florist to buy yellow roses for an ex girlfriend before capture in Iowa.
