Lorain County trustees urge rapid park land purchases
Lorain County faces a target of 8000 more park acres by 2010 and must begin acquisitions now. George Balogh, Sheffield Township Trustee, urged the effort at a county trustees and clerks meeting, citing a plan of 10 acres per 1000 residents and rising population. The discussion connected to traffic concerns from Lorain Works and a $120 million U S Steel bar mill, with 430 extra trucks daily on Rt. 57. Commissioner J Norman Thompson noted tax benefits from increased valuation and urged county-wide planning actions. Next meeting set for Jan 18 at Ward Hall in Huntington.
