Columbia man dies after Osborn Road accident

Oscar Steinmetz aged 90 of 25178 Osborn Road died at Community Hospital after injuries from being struck by a car driven by Colleen Whelan at about 6 p.m. Saturday on Osborn Road. Deputy reports say the driver was not cited. Steinmetz had head injuries and multiple fractures and had been in critical condition since admission. Lorain County traffic deaths for the year reach 61.

The Ohio Board of Regents reduced Lorain County Community College subsidy by 55 004 dollars due to lower than expected enrollment. Avon Lake raises teacher pay to lead county salaries

Avon Lake teachers will be the highest paid in the county starting January 1 after the Board of Education approved a new pay schedule raising annual amounts from 505 to 605 dollars and starting salaries at 6200 dollars for those with a bachelor's degree.
