Lorain farmers win top honors at annual soil and water meeting

The Lorain Soil and Water Conservation District announced 27th annual awards for conservation and crop winners. John Devin duo from Oberlin received Top Conservation. Simms Farms and Clyde Lewis Oberlin led soybean and corn. Hay and silage show at Lorain County Fair set records with Dean Baker and Weigel Farms among champions. Lorain County’s silage entries earned 17 of 35 possible fair awards while Pickworth Brothers claimed Grand Champion Silage at the Ohio State Fair. Corwin Burrer reelected chairman with Jack Rollin and other officers named. numerous farmers noted in corn and soybean club rosters.
