Police fire levy and revenue shifts approved after council work session
City council approved three revenue recommendations to raise almost $1 million and will seek a fourth to raise sanitation rates. A five year 1 mill police and fire levy is set for the June 1977 ballot, estimated to yield about $330,000 annually. New York AP reports Jimmy Carter told ABC Barbara Walters he would absolutely wear blue jeans in the White House except for formal meetings with the French ambassador in a morning coat. He said he and Rosalynn sleep in a double bed and will continue doing so, plans to jog daily, and believes the presidency was always within reach with no doubt of election.

Nabakowski chosen for 13th district state senate post
Lorain City Auditor Ronald Nabakowski, 34, was recommended by state Democratic leaders to fill the 13th district senate seat vacated by Donald Pease and was confirmed by the Democratic caucus. The appointment runs through 1978 with Nabakowski set to be officially confirmed along with Pease's replacement around Jan. 3. Nabakowski, backed by Lt Gov Richard Celeste, beat James J Kokinda and Lee Kolezun for the job, and had won his current auditor post in 1971 after defeating a Republican opponent 15,300 to 4,224.
