City holds 700 checks as funds run short
City Auditor Thomas M. Radican says about 700 bills totaling roughly 500 thousand dollars are being held because funds are unavailable. The checks, printed weekly, were ready for mailing but lacked postage. Some dates back to October and will be mailed when funds exist, with Radican hopeful enough money will cover two payrolls.

Ohio vote OK judge rules on election suit
UPI report: Judge Joseph P. Kinneary refused a bid by a coalition of U.S. Labor Republican and American Party representatives to void Ohio’s November 2 election results. He ruled there was no proven fraud or irregularities sufficient to change the outcome, allowing Secretary of State Ted Brown to certify Carter’s slim win and convene the electoral college. The suit alleged thousands voted from vacant lots and abandoned buildings, but observers offered no proof of fraud. The court noted the investigation began after the election and warned against delaying participation for millions of voters. Brown planned to certify the 25 electors once the civil case was denied.
