Juvenile officer added to North Ridgeville police force
North Ridgeville City Council approved an emergency ordinance restructuring the police department to drop a part time patrolman and create a full time juvenile officer position. The shift uses $3,000 in state funds toward the patrolman’s salary, with no new hires planned before year end. The force will include one chief, captain, lieutenant, two sergeants, and ten patrolmen, one of whom will serve as juvenile officer. The city also approved a used emergency generator purchase, bid for a sewer department van, joined a county waste district, and established mutual police protection with nearby municipalities.

The We Care Committee warns that without the additional 140 000 dollars needed for 1971 budget to cover rising costs, heat light classrooms and new teachers may be sacrificed.
