Agnew vows continued U S aid to Thailand after Asia tour

Vice President Spiro Agnew ends his Asia trip by pledging ongoing U S military and economic aid to Thailand. Thai leaders say aid will support Thailand as it plans to pull back its 12,000 man expeditionary force from Vietnam and to counter Communist forces in Cambodia and Laos.

Elyman Awarded DFC for Vietnam Heroism

1st Lt. Richard Gill of Elyria Ohio earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism in Vietnam after rescuing a large group of soldiers under heavy fire on March 30. Gill, a 1965 Elyria High School graduate, served 12 months as a helicopter pilot with the 119th Helicopter Company and gathered multiple Air Medals and an Army Commendation Medal.

Plane Crashes In Georgia Carrying Gov Maddox No Injuries

A chartered twin engine plane carrying Gov. Lester Maddox and three others crash landed in STATESBORO after landing gear failure. Witnesses reported the wheels retracted during final approach and the aircraft skidded in on its belly. All aboard were unhurt.
