Lorain Levy Faces Tight Funding for Three-Year Plan
Lorain school officials warn the proposed two mill levy may not cover three years of payroll and operating costs. Dr John Evans reports 406 teachers and 125 staff would need raises totaling $347,723 in 1958-59, with the levy adding about 41,000 yearly and 95 teachers projected over three years. A salary schedule comparison shows substantial increases under the compromise plan, risking a payroll near $3 million for 1958-59.
