Ohio lawmakers review sustainability of unemployment benefits
A six member Republican and two Democrat joint committee in Ohio held the first of five hearings on reforming the unemployment system. Options include higher employer taxes, surcharges, or changes to benefits and eligibility.

Confederate Soldier to Receive Corrected Headstone in Ohio
Augustus Beckmann, a Civil War soldier fatally wounded at Shiloh on April 7, 1862, was buried at Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery in Columbus under the name A Bergman and wrong company. Greg Beckman, his great great grandson, uncovered the misidentification on Memorial Day and secured paperwork to have the National Cemetery Administration replace the headstone. Beckmann’s lineage traces to William Beckmann, his brother, who emigrated from Germany with Augustus after 1858 to 1860 and joined the 2nd Texas Infantry in Galveston.
