Brookside hopes to improve under Sowinski in 1981
Brookside coach Dick Sowinski reflects on turning a disorganized program around over three years. He notes rising enthusiasm with about 50 candidates, after a string of 0-10 and 1-9 seasons and a 2-8 finish in 1980, while stressing the slow but steady gains in wins.

Brookside football relies on depth as key asset in 1981
Brookside head coach Sowinski highlights depth across the backfield and across positions as the team prepares for the 1981 season. Key players include quarterback Larry Sampson and a host of juniors competing for running back spots while an inexperienced interior line challenges the offense. The defense features returners such as Tom Borer and Mark Smith with a rotation planned to keep players fresh. The schedule opens September 12 at Lorain Catholic with several conference games through November 6 at North Ridgeville.
