Judge dismisses Machinists suit against OPEC over oil pricing
UPI report from Los Angeles states U.S. District Judge Andrew Hauk ruled he lacks jurisdiction to restrain OPEC nations. He dismissed the cartel as a defendant and rejected antitrust action against the 13 members. The IAM said it would appeal, but enforcement would be impossible without international authority. The judge warned against provoking war and noted foreign policy limits.
