Ace detective probes death of Olmsted cop
Olmsted Township Police Chief Masielle asked the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department to investigate the fatal shooting of Ptl. Dominick J. Boscarelli 23. His shift partner and childhood friend Ptl. Rudy Kuntz discharged a 357 Magnum during gunbelt removal at the station around 11 p.m. Boscarelli died later at Southwest General Hospital. Boscarelli had worked as a township officer and previously with the Cleveland Police Department as a traffic controller. Kuntz had been a deputy with the sheriff's department before joining the township force. Boscarelli's father said the two were friends since junior high.

Elyria Teen Dies as Car Flips in Ditch on Bender Road
An 18-year-old Elyria woman, Nancy Hill, died after a car driven by 16-year-old Andrew Teper overturned in a ditch near North Ridgeville at 1:40 a.m. Three other teens were treated. Teper faces charges of failing to control a motor vehicle while investigators continue. Funeral arrangements are handled by Curtis-Scheuffler Funeral Home.
