Gunman Kills 14 at Oklahoma Post Office

A part time postal worker opened fire early this morning in Edmond Oklahoma killing 14 people and wounding at least four before taking his own life Police identified the gunman as Pat Sherrill and found his body with the victims inside the post office and in the back lot Four injured were hospitalized with two in critical condition and undergoing surgery Victims named include Gene Bray 54 and Steve Vick 24 both hospitalized with gunshot wounds

Oberlin Man Pleads Innocent in Aug 15 Slaying

Henry W Thomas 42 of Nancy Kentucky pleaded innocent in Oberlin Municipal Court to aggravated murder for the shooting death of 20 year old Barry Newhouse of North Ridgeville. Bond remained $200,000 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 28.

Murder trial begins for 2 Ridgeville men

In Lorain County Court the murder trial starts for Joseph Parson and Kevin McDowell over the 46 year old Richard P James death. Prosecutors say James died of multiple head injuries after being found at the bottom of stairs near McDowell’s home on June 29 1985. Both defendants plead not guilty as jury selection begins and officials withhold evidence details.

Midview boards votes 85-mill levy for November ballot

GRAFTON An 85 mill continuing levy to run Midview Schools will appear on the November ballot after a special board meeting. Voters previously defeated a 98 mill levy, prompting officials to pursue a smaller tax while outlining austerity steps. The board warned failure would trigger a $1 million deficit in 1988. A blue ribbon committee of citizens and finance experts will review district finances within two weeks.
