Avon Lake votes to place three charter changes on ballot
Avon Lake residents will vote on Nov 4 to approve three charter amendments. The first adds a recall initiative and petitioning rule, the second eliminates the residency requirement for law and finance directors, and the third raises bidding thresholds from 5 000 to 10 000. The amendments stem from an ad hoc charter review committee led by Gregory Zilka with Judy Emrick and Vincent Urbin.

Columbia Game Club building restricted in residential zoning
Columbia Game Club cannot use its Briarwood Lane building as a clubhouse under township rules. Legal adviser Jar rett Murray said zoning lists the structure as agricultural use only, so meetings would mark it as a clubhouse a gray area since the primary purpose is recreation. Trustees noted EPA and health board handled the sewage permit and inspections.
