Indians praise Bernazard as Canditti improves knuckleball reach
The Indians credit Bernazard for perseverance as Candietti earns a league lead tying 10th knuckleball start. Candietti delivered 138 pitches in a gritty outing, allowing 10 hits, four walks, seven strikeouts, while battling an upset stomach. He previously spent time in the minors and joined the Indians as a non roster player.

Swindell moves up to Class AA Waterbury
Cleveland promotes left handed pitcher Greg Swindell from Waterloo to Double-A Waterbury of the Eastern League. In three Waterloo outings he went 2-1 with a 1.00 ERA, allowing two earned runs in 18 innings while fanning 25 and walking three. Indians GM Joe Klein said the decision was easy as Swindell overmatched the league and could soon reach Cleveland. Swindell was the Indians first pick in June’s draft.
