Five tennis trophies for Dick Holliday
Dick Holliday dominated the 1980 Stang Motors Lorain County Tennis Tournament at North Ridgeville winning five championships. He beat top seed Frank Hartman for the Mens 35 Singles 6-3 6-3, teamed with Jeannie Williams to win 35-and-over Mixed Doubles 6-3 6-2, partnered with Noreen DeMarco to conquer Adult Mixed Doubles, and with John Keller to win Mens Doubles 6-2 6-4, plus teamed with Hartman to take Mens 35 Doubles 6-4 6-4. He played 14 title sets, 84 games won, 41 lost, as weather forced a move indoors to Oberlin College.

Henderson heads to the United States Amateur in North Carolina next Friday and lamented winning by forfeit.

Former North Ridgeville and Columbia coach Jim Uszynski, age 34, could be added to Admiral King’s staff as freshmen coach. He led Columbia to a 9-1 record in 1974 and North Ridgeville to a final 8-1 season, with two linemen earning Lombardi awards, and previously starred at Clearview and Muskegon College before coaching stints at North Fork and Mansfield Madison.
