Kipton delays police decision
The Kipton Village Council will seek more information before deciding to dissolve its police department. Mayor Dennis Watson said officials will meet with a former county police chief now teaching at Lorain County Community College to discuss options for keeping the department open and what steps would be needed to close it. Several councilmembers had signaled support for ending the troubled department after top officers were suspended and others resigned.

Husband throws wife from balcony in Kansas City
Stanley Reimer, 51, is charged with second degree murder after allegedly walking Criste Reimer, 47, to a fourth floor balcony at Plaza Point Apartments, kissing her, and throwing her to her death. Criste's body was found on the pavement outside the apartment complex. Reimer is jailed on a $250,000 cash bond awaiting arraignment.
