Bridge Replacement Plans For 10-Lane Span Revealed
Salvage crews used the break to clear debris from the site as divers stayed clear. A preliminary design released Tuesday shows a ten lane bridge with two wider than the old structure and a 100 year expected life. State officials estimate costs at 200 to 250 million with relief funding from the federal government preferred. Officials worry a light rail line may not secure federal money. Minnesota will also receive 133.3 million dollars from the U S Department of Transportation to ease congestion on I 35W north of the collapsed bridge.
