Eight Injured In Traffic Accidents
Eight persons were injured, four seriously, in traffic accidents reported to the police and sheriff departments Saturday and Sunday. In Avon Lake six were hurt when two cars collided head on near 10:50 p m as drivers allegedly tried to pass. Victims included Ivan Vader and Carrie Vader of Cass City Michigan and Paul Osteen and Marie Osteen of Detroit, plus Edward Reidler and Join Scherner of Cleveland and Lakewood, all taken to St Joseph's Hospital, Lorain, with conditions listed as fair. Additional injuries occurred to bicyclist Andrew Harcola near Elyria, Frank Foley of Elyria, and others in separate collisions at various locations. several were treated and released or transported to local hospitals.

Caughley a 53 year old World War veteran whose lifeless body was found in the driveway of his Kingsley’s Corners cottage on Route 57 about 3 40 am Sunday by neighbor Bert Gessner. Sheriff Clarence W Dick said the dog barked and the body was taken to Sudro Curtis Funeral Home while relatives in Cleveland were sought. Coroner A Ward ruled death from natural causes noting heart trouble. Caughley apparently drove his car into the driveway and collapsed as he stepped out with the car lights on.
