County Team Wins Judging Contest at Dairy Day
Lorain County boys John Love William Kneisel and Lawrence Kneisel of Brownhelm won the Dairy Judging contest at Dairy Day in Wooster out of 454 teams. Their victory earns Lorain County a spot at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus in August. A Carroll County team finished second and other top ten finishers included teams from Muskingum Licking Portage Huron Medina Union Van Wert and Logan. A second Lorain team led by Malcolm Fowl Elyria Township and Urban and Charles Klingshirn Avon also competed but did not place in the top ten.

A freight train struck a truck carrying 40 people at a grade crossing near Louiseville Quebec. At least 25 men and boys were killed and 14 were critically injured.
