Two die in Ashland County two car crash
A 51 year old Ashland County man Carl Fryman and his 5 year old daughter Lisa were killed in a two car collision at Hallover and Hughes Roads. Fryman and his daughter died at Allen Memorial Hospital. Jill Linden, a driver of the other car, and several others were treated in hospital with various injuries. A stop sign violation was cited for Jean Linden. The incident raised Lorain County traffic deaths for 1971 to 49.

Lorain woman dies after I-90 crash blamed on broken spring
Mrs Joyce E Dalehite 19 of Lorain dies from multiple injuries after a Wednesday collision on Interstate 90 near Erie caused by a broken left rear spring in the car she rode in. Her husband Ronald 19 in fair condition. Police report the auto skidded and was struck broadside by a truck from Memphis Tennessee. No citation issued.

Auto designer Walter Bentley dies in England
Walter Owen Bentley, famed designer of the Bentley sports car, died last night in a nursing home at age 83. Known as W. O. Bentley, he and his brother H. M. founded their car venture in 1922 in a London back yard, creating four subsequent revolutionary models acclaimed by automotive experts. In separate crime notes, a suspect Herrara fled after a theft at Holiday Chrysler Plymouth, was recaptured in Lorain County, and charged along with Willie Joe Jackson and a 17-year-old Lorain youth.
