Storm knocks out power in two areas across Wellington Lorain
Heavy rains and high winds caused outages and damage in Wellington and Lorain. A Wellington resident described yesterday's storm as a baby tornado that felled a tree and pole on South Main Street. Electrical service was out 4 to 7 pm, and a pavement cave in prompted rerouted traffic near Baker Street. A leak in City Hall formed late at night pouring water into the police dispatch office. Rain totals hit 18 inches in Wellington by 8 am, an area record for August 10. In East Lorain a conductor failure cut power to 4000 customers 6:10 to 7:17 pm. West Lorain saw 800 customers lose power 5:05 to 6:17 am. Utilities crews worked to restore service and Ohio Edison said damage was normal for such a storm, with all repairs completed by 7 am.
