Viet Cong attack prompts U S air raid on village

In the Mekong Delta on Tuesday night Viet Cong guerrillas fired on a U S Air Force spotter plane near Chau Nheim 135 miles southwest of Saigon. Two F100 jets returned fire, killing 15 villagers and wounding 182 as the hamlet was bombed after the ambush.

Man killed in Lorain bat fight

A 38 year old Lorain steelworker was shot and killed in a tavern at East 30th Street and Vine Avenue. Two suspects Jose Luis Fontanez and Luis Diaz were charged with first degree murder. They were arrested outside the bar and identified by witnesses as involved in the fatal fight. Jackson died of a heart wound, possibly shot three times. U S Air Force Ace Missing in Viet Nam Flight

Maj James H Kusler, 40, described as the Air Force’s top Viet Nam pilot, was shot down over the Red River Valley 70 miles northwest of Hanoi after flying more than 70 combat missions. His downed Thunderchief was among three lost that Monday. rescue efforts failed and he was listed as missing presumed captured.

Union calls for binding talks on airline dispute
