Berea panel backs ballot levy for hospital renewal
Berea council unanimously approves placing a five year renewal levy on the November 6 ballot after the ethics board finds council members and spouses unlikely to gain. The levy would raise about 87000 a year for Southwest General Hospital to fund capital improvements including a 25 bed mental health unit and 36 bed surgical unit. Other area cities and townships also have renewal levies with total expected hospital revenue around 650000 annually.
