Lorain reports four raids as heroin source cut off

Lorain police arrested 11 people in four coordinated drug raids and seized about $7,000 worth of heroin plus paraphernalia. The operation targeted the main heroin source believed tied to the Glait De Oro Restaurant on Vine Avenue and Lakeview Park area. Authorities said the raids disrupted the flow of heroin into Lorain County and involved 20 officers across nine cruisers. Arrests included El Hit De Oro owner Jacinto Torres and several residents. charges ranged from possession of drug paraphernalia to sale of heroin.

Weather good for splashdown Apollo 15 near Pacific

Apollo 15 crew reported favorable conditions for a 4:46 p.m. EDT splashdown in the Pacific after a 12 day mission. Ground controllers noted the Endeavour was on a safe entry path with a course correction cancelled.

Mosher to Attend Apollo 15 Splashdown

U S Representative Charles A. Mosher R 13 is named among eight lawmakers aboard the U S S Okinawa for Apollo 15 splashdown in the South Pacific. Mosher, deputy ranking member of the House Science and Astronautics Committee, previously attended the July 26 launch at Cape Kennedy and will return to Ohio for constituent meetings next week.

County figures show highway safety costs equal about 600 dollars per mile annually. Work by the County Engineer’s office details money from gasoline tax and license fees funding paint, signs, and guard rails for 240 miles of roads.

Tragic death of boy wanderer in Alaska forest

In Anchorage a 15 year old, formerly from Lorain County Ohio, David Kuntz, wandered from Peters Creek Campground and drowned near his parents campsite after a two day search by Civil Air Patrol police and volunteers. David, a former student of the Lorain County School for the Mentally Retarded, lived in Vermilion and Amherst before moving to Alaska in June with his father Arthur Kuntz who built a school. His step grandmother reports the family is shocked and unsure how he wandered away.

Lorain County Night at Blossom Center Sept. 3
