The piece extols swimming as the best low effort way to stay fit and slim during August and ahead of fall shopping. It cites Eleanor Holm Jarrett advising two simple exercises: deep breathing with arms extended and a bending twisting routine to improve lung capacity, endurance, and torso tone.
Shoulder level bending and twisting touch toes with alternate hands ten to twenty times to stimulate circulation and tone muscles. In water, proper muscles develop with strokes. Breast stroke builds bust, brisk overhand aids reduction, side or back strokes aid graceful carriage. Avoid tennis to prevent overdeveloping certain muscles.
Rochester church notes report the Harmonial Society of the Methodist church will meet Friday at the church for an all day meeting with officers to be elected for the coming year. Dinner will be served. Also notes a Bible study class for children at the Baptist church each Thursday and an all day Brighton charge meeting next Sunday at Clarksfield with Rev. H. H. Patrick preaching at eleven, fellowship dinner at noon, and quarterly conference with Dr. W. W. Wagar. Sunday School at 10 a.m. Epworth League in the evening. Rev. Simcox, an Oberlin College roommate of Patrick, preached Sunday evening. Family reunion notes: Parker family held a Sunday gathering with attendees from several nearby towns.
Reported Sunday gatherings show Mr and Mrs George Davidson and large family at Savannah Lake for a Ricketts reunion with over 60 attendees. Nearby, the Frank reunion at Crestline drew relatives from Crestline to New Washing ton and Cleveland.
