President Seeks To Break Deadlock On Utilities Bill
Washington, Aug. 6. The administration moved to break a conference deadlock over its utility holding company bill. Senator Wheeler, coauthor of the Wheeler Rayburn measure, returned from a weekend aboard the Sequoia with Roosevelt to urge the Senate conference group to reconvene. Wheeler would not comment on talks, but Roosevelt reportedly reiterated support for a death sentence against unnecessary utility holding companies. The president said he expects Congress to enact a satisfactory bill this session.

Three Killed At Railroad Crossing
Three men died when their car was struck by a passenger train at the Lee road crossing of the Erie railroad in Cleveland.
