Avon levy fails again in five point nine mill request
Avon School levy of 10 years and 4.45 million dollars with 5.9 mills was defeated 3043 to 2071 or 59.5 to 40.5 percent in Avon Ohio. Superintendent Jim Reitenbach called the result a disappointment while supporters waited in the Avon Middle School media center. The district plans to refile the measure in November seeking funds to avoid cuts to programs for students.

Notebook match ties suspect to Chase bank robbery
FBI court records say a notebook page with indentations matched a note given to a teller during the July 21 Chase bank robbery in Sheffield Lake. Investigators also found a BB gun a bandana and a camouflage cap linked to the case in the suspect’s belongings and vehicle. The 39 year old Robert Starnes Jr was indicted on the federal armed bank robbery charge after initial parole violation arrest and disputed parole status.

Sheffield Two residents host free National Night Out event
About 300 people attended Sheffield Township National Night Out at St. Laci's grounds for free food drinks and family fun. Volunteers from Target distributed drinks beach balls and sidewalk chalk while sponsors Apples Giant Eagle Lakeshore Tools M M Lawn Care and Maple Inn donated. Parishioners staffed the kitchen Bethel Chapel Church served food and a LifeShare blood drive operated. Lorain County Sheriff and Fire Department offered safety demos and child ID services as Ted Kale and Betty Sutton attended. A Life Flight helicopter arrived during the event and a DJ from Skyline Entertainment played.
