Labor and sugar bills in House schedule and delays

The House plans action on a tax loophole closure measure tomorrow or Thursday and will bring the sugar bill up Thursday or Friday. Leadership aims to pass wages and hours, taxes, sugar, and housing measures by end of next week with weeks set aside for House Senate conferences. The substitute lower court bill may be enacted meanwhile, and Labor committee action stalled by drafting disputes. An amended wage bill would set minimums from 40 to 70 cents with 35 to 40 hour weeks, while the Senate bill caps wages at 40 and requires a 40 hour week.
