Elyria resident Leonard Petcavage, already leading a 125 member parish choir, participated in the ordination of three new bishops at St. Joan's Cathedral in Cleveland. Petcavage, a St. Mary's Church member and seminary student, is to be ordained a priest in 1981.

She described the blast debris dust and mass panic as she ran outside salvaged belongings and then grabbed a cab to the airport and flew to Paris skipping the Portugal leg to avoid returning via Spain.
Lorain County faces a strained sheriff salary fund as of June 30 with 51 574 left of 60 400 monthly payroll. County Administrator Dellisanti and Auditor Pijor will transfer funds Friday to cover remaining year needs and reevaluate income estimates while a 2 mill levy to fund sheriff operations is to appear on the November ballot for five years about 3 2 million yearly to cover rural patrols jail expansion and deputy pay and benefits alignment.
Biz Grove and his orchestra bring the big band sound to Ely Square from 8 to 10 p.m. The Elyria Merchants Association and Local 146 of the American Federation of Musicians present the free event. A repeat performance is set for August 23.
