Fatherly judge sentences Bundy to die in Chi Omega murders
UPI reports Judge Edward Cowart sentences Theodore Bundy to death for the Chi Omega killings, calling the crime wicked and shocking. Cowart, in a fatherly tone, told Bundy to take care of himself as Bundy spoke of his defense and trial criticisms. Bundy addressed the court, asking for no mercy and asserting possible acquittal in a new trial.

Russell Means Paroled From South Dakota Prison
Russell Means, 38, of Porcupine Dakota, was freed from the South Dakota State Penitentiary after serving one year of a four year sentence for a 1975 riot conviction. He leaves a 35 day anger strike and a stake in AIM, returning to Pine Ridge to finish parole.
