Postal union urges rejection of national postal contract
Delegates at the National Association of Letter Carriers convention in Chicago voted by voice to recommend that the nations 170000 mail carriers reject the proposed contract. Ballots go to about 550000 postal workers for ratification with results due in about three weeks. In Newark a federal judge barred a strike vote by New York Metro Local APWU as opposition to the deal grew.

Raber gets 1-year contract as Elyria High acting principal
John W. Raber, 43, was awarded a one year contract by the Elyria Board of Education to continue as acting principal of Elyria High School from Aug 1, 1978 to July 31, 1979. Pre Classic entry deadline nears for Elyria race
Pre race entries for the C T JCs Elyria Distance Classic must be received by Thursday morning to assign numbers for the Sunday seven mile run. About 200 runners have signed up. The Classic starts at 6 pm from the Legion Home at Gulf and Abbe with a 3 30 pm day of race sign up outside LCCC. A 1 mile Family Fitness run costs nothing and requires no signup and all finishers receive certificates.
