Clark Gable’s rugged hunting excursions with studio crew

There is little wealth in Clark Gables hunting trips. He and a wardrobe department member wear old warm clothes, load supplies, and depart in his station wagon for one to two weeks. They choose sites in advance, pitch camp, fish and hunt, take turns cooking and cleaning, and Gable readily shares chores. They venture into virgin territory and keep a simple, self sufficient pace.

On his latest trip he ditched the tent, traveled in a station wagon with a collapsible bed, and debated hiring extra help, then remained close friends with a companion who vetoed that idea.
