Polecat slang sparks legislative mockery in era politics
In a lively exchange across newspapers, a legislator defends a nickname polecrat amid humor and dialect shifts. Quoted figures from multiple papers trace the term polecat to regional speech and a switchy political path where a defeated Democrat allegedly hops to the Republican ticket and back, illustrating party realignment rhetoric of the period.
