Formosan authorities outlined rebuilding plans for towns and rural areas shattered by a series of earthquakes off the coast of China. The casualty toll stood at 3152 dead and 9991 injured, with many listed as quake victims misclassifying illness. A vast rehabilitation effort loomed as wooden huts collapsed and villages faced extensive damage.
Reports from BARDAD Irak April 23 say more than 500 people are believed killed in a series of earthquakes in Mazanderan Province Persia beginning April 12. Rescue workers found hundreds of bodies as aftershocks continued and a national relief committee formed.

Firefighters battled a woods fire between Garford Avenue and Prospect Street yesterday afternoon for about one hour and forty minutes. The blaze scorched a large area from Prospect Street to Garford Avenue and from Dennison Avenue to Miami Avenue but caused no property damage.
Pan American Clipper retracing a Pacific crossing from Honolulu to Alameda on the return leg of a trial flight. After 75 hours aloft it was about 1 822 miles from Honolulu with a 33 mile headwind lowering ground speed to 96 mph. Captain Edwin A. In Toledo on April 23 more than 2 000 Chevrolet workers walked out after failed wage hours and union recognition talks with GM officials. The strike halted operations and the plant remained closed for the duration, with police prepared and a union statement blaming management for breaking collective bargaining.

John Martin Fullmer 77 a lifelong Lorain County resident died at home on East Avenue Elyria after a yearlong illness. Washington April 23 The Senate banking and currency committee approved the nomination of Marriner S Eccles as governor of the Federal Reserve Board today.
Reverend Joe J. Payne and his wife were absolved by a Jackson County grand jury in the Adelbert Ewing honor killing, which returned no true bill. The decision came in Pascagoula Mississippi on a recent date.
