Record Warmth Sparks Early Flowers And Frost Risk

A Sunday high of 86 degrees shattered a 30 year April record in North Ridgeville as the stretch of 80 degree days extended. Meteorologist Ray Diederich noted the 1962 and 1954 records, warned of a possible frost danger by mid May, and said drier weather will break by Tuesday across Ohio.

Car kills boy on moped amid DUI charge in Elyria

A 15 year old Elyria youth died after his moped was hit from behind by a car on Abbe Road near Sandalwood Drive. The driver, Alan Kalaus of Westlake, 43, was charged with driving under the influence after a breathalyzer test. Funeral arrangements set at Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home and St. Jude Catholic Church with burial in Brookdale Cemetery.
