Appeal Filed Over Avon Cemetery Visitor Center Plan
Susan and Mary Urig filed in Lorain County Common Pleas Court against the Avon Planning Commission and City Council and Catholic Cemeteries Association to halt a decision approving a 3825 square foot visitor center near St. Joseph Cemetery on Detroit Road. The plaintiffs allege the ordinance amending the special use permit was unconstitutional and discriminatory while opponents say the front location creates traffic and landscape concerns.

Payback for Pheasant Run sewer project eyed in LaGrange
The county projects an assessment of 11 802.02 per resident with a 2 percent interest rate, adding about 394 to annual property tax bills in 2019. The plan repairs lines in Pheasant Run’s 533 homes and runs 4.5 miles to the wastewater plant in LaGrange. Village Administrator Walt Sukey says expansion of the plant, at about 2.4 million, is in the works, with an EPA permit sought to discharge wastewater. Mayor Kim Strauss cites readiness to handle the development next summer as construction and engineering proceed.
