Lorain County Coroner will conduct autopsy after a woman was found face down in a muddy area on Old Fowl Road between Elyria city limits and Albrecht Road. Police await notification of the family before naming her. A dog-walker reported the scene to authorities.
The Elyria School Board and Elyria Education Association reached a three-year contract after under a month of talks. It provides 2 percent base pay increases annually and restores longevity steps, plus a one time $750 payment, with no health care changes. The Aug. 1 2019 to July 31 2020 agreement follows prior lengthy, contentious negotiations in 2014.
Zachary M. Lee, 24, was arrested on felonious assault charges after a dark blue Dodge caravan allegedly tried to hit three bicyclists on Ninth Street. A safety evaluation was ordered for Friday, with a preliminary hearing set for Monday at Elyria Municipal Court.

Elyria woman Carol Haag sues Dr Mohammed Jayber and Community Family Care Inc alleging abuse by office manager Dawn Scott. Haag, a practicing Christian, says Scott converted to Islam in 2012 and became hostile, with claims of pushing into cabinets, spraying chemicals, name calling, and other assaults beginning in 2012 and reported to the doctor in 2016.
