Elyria weighs sale of Brookdale Cemetery land
Elyria plans to market about 29 acres in the northwest corner of Brookdale Cemetery as cremations rise and burials decline. Cemetery manager Rob Given told the Finance Committee the city would likely receive around 175000 dollars for the Carlisle Township land. Council members voiced concerns about future development and control, noting the parcel sits amid farmland near Oberlin Elyria and Murray Ridge roads.
