Amherst to discuss water plant upgrades with state
Amherst City Council was warned by state authorities that the waste water facility fails to meet standards. Council members weighed options for expansion and modernization, with talks set for May 1 with the Ohio Water Pollution Control Board. Mayor Clark requested funds for engineering studies and city representation, while concerns about sewer rates rising from 60 to 100 dollars per quarter and the need for more information delayed decisive action. The request for a 90 day extension to May 1 was forwarded to the finance committee as streets and sidewalks officials noted prior delays.
