Sewer rate suit reset in North Olmsted case
A hearing in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on merging a temporary injunction and declaratory judgment against North Olmsted s 65 percent sewer rate hike was reset for tomorrow or Monday. Plaintiffs attorney Michel Gareau and residents Janet Salinger and James Lavelle await witnesses. city law director Bruce Kitchen said witnesses may be ready by then. The suit seeks to bar collection of the rate hike approved Jan 19 with an Aug 1 effective date.

Valley City man injured as pickup flips on Route 252
A 40-year-old Valley City man, Garland P. Akers, was seriously injured when his pickup hit a culvert on Route 252 in Columbia Township Lorain County. He remained in critical condition with rib fractures and possible internal injuries. No charges were filed and the truck was a total loss.

Power outage hits Sheffield Lake residents for 55 minutes
More than 1,000 customers in northwest Sheffield Lake lost electricity after an Ohio Edison underground cable broke at the Root Road substation. Power was off from 9:17 to 10:12 p.m. No cause given for the 4,160-volt line. Affected areas include Tollewood and Rowe Street from Norfolk and Western Rail Road to Lake Erie. The substation serves about half the city.
