Foundation School Bill Opposed By Cleveland Man

In Columbus on April 12 the 48 million foundation school program bill driven by Rep. Grover Traxler faced Senate opposition led by Sen. James Metzenbaum. Metzenbaum urged delaying a permanent financing plan until schools reorganize to cut districts from about 2,000, noting 50 districts contain under 10 pupils each. He proposed consolidations to shrink districts and reduce one room schools, arguing salaries for some district officials persist while city boards lack pay.
