In Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania on April 8 a pastor Rev A H Nickolin his wife and 14 year old son Alex were found shot to death when firemen forced entry after a fire alarm. Police suspect the clergyman killed his family then killed himself though a congregation feud and two empty shells raise triple murder questions. The clergyman was found fully clothed in his room with revolver nearby and Alex lay on bed shot through the head. The scene appeared orderly with bed covers wrapped around him. Cattle Buying Program Welcomed by Welfare Dept
Columbus Ohio April 8 An announcement that Welfare Director Harper welcomed the joint sale and slaughter of dairy cattle by the State Welfare Department. Harper told Attorney General Crabbe and State Auditor Tracy that the state loses money due to Crabbe’s alleged refusal to permit a lease for a pole line by the Mutual Electric Co Athens. Three years ago the line was authorized by the Ohio legislature. Harper said a counter proposal from Crabbe could cost the state from 12500 to 50000. He referenced the Tracy Crabbe dairy cattle probe and said diseased cattle must be killed by law. The Welfare Dept demands a 00 day guarantee on cattle purchases. Attorney Mills declined comment on Governor Danahey’s letter asking Crabb e to instruct Mills to reimburse the Ebezner district school board. Montgomery county noted a 1300 fee for legal services while Mills draws 4000 yearly from the state for Crabbe’s department. Crabb e and Tracy were out of Columbus.
