Susie's luck highlights adoption gaps for minority children
Four year old Susie, blind from early years in foster care, embodies the disparity in adoption for minority children with handicaps. Gloria Mareda and Charles Mareda lead Families for Black Adoptable Children, offering financial aid and support to help private agencies and families keep handicapped children. The group meets monthly at Great Lakes College in Cleveland, with a $10 basic membership and a newsletter guiding adoptive parents.
